What is SCF?
The School of Communication Foundations (SCF) is one of YWAM’s University of the Nations (UofN) core courses, making it a stepping stone for further UofN classes. It includes 12 weeks of lectures, group discussions, reading and writing assignments, group and individual projects, role-playing and public presentations.
The SCF lays a solid foundation in Biblical communication, advancing your skills, confidence, and application in writing, speaking, listening, and giving and receiving feedback. It aims to sharpen your ability to communicate through cross-cultural and interpersonal dynamics. It equips you with principles of preparing and delivering a message to a variety of audiences. Through provoking instruction and discussion, video evaluation, written and practical assignments. You will discover your potential and place as an effective influencer in the public forum.
The SCF seeks to develop your oral and written communication skills. While exploring what it means to be fully present and alive, and discovering more about who God made you to be as a communicator. You will be able to take these skills into the private, public and professional world.
Prerequisites: Having completed the DTS-Discipleship Training School(DSP 211 e 212)

Purpose of the School
School of Communication Foundations(CMC 211 | 12 credits)
The purpose of the School of Communication Foundations is to provide a biblical Christian view of communication and to teach verbal and written skills for personal growth and ministerial success. We will investigate the communication process from a biblical framework and explore a variety of written and verbal strategies for multiplying good messages. This school invites God to realign your identity in HIM and examines biblical principles of communication. This course is essential for anyone who wants to study and graduate from the University of the Nations.

The SCF is for anyone who has the desire and passion to communicate Christ to a modern generation in a relevant way.The purpose of the school is to provide a biblical view of communication and to teach writing and speaking skills for personal growth and ministerial success. We will investigate the communication process and explore a variety of written and verbal strategies to become effective communicators.

You will discover God’s perspective for communication looking at different communication models. Through the teaching of biblical worldview you will be challenged to review why you believe in what you believe. With multicultural student body, transcultural communication principles are learned and applied daily and you will have the opportunity to seek a new and deeper understanding of the heart of God for the nations. Your personal style of communication will also be developed in creative ways.You will increase interpersonal vision for clearer relational communication through the areas of nonverbal communication, active listening, and gender and family based communication. Methods will be used to identify your personal motivational style of relating.

What skills will you learn?
Public speaking in different contexts is taught and applied throughout the school.You can grow in oratorical skills by effectively delivering verbal and creative presentations to live audiences through oral reports, question and answer sessions, presentations, as well as bringing people to new discoveries about God and His Word.Writing is another major emphasis of the course. You can get writing skills by applying new study and research techniques. You will produce research work at the academic level, write book reviews, and have opportunities to develop your writing skills in a meaningful and authentic way.
How will all this happen?
The objectives of the course will be achieved through the integration of information, processing and application. The 12 weeks of learning include: lessons, group discussions, videos, video evaluation, reading and writing, individual and group projects, dramatizations, creative workshops, and public presentations. There is continuous interaction between people of different age, culture, gender, personal and professional context. National and international teachers qualified in communication will teach during the 12 weeks. The School leaders and staffs are committed to walking side by side with each individual to increase growth, both academic and personal.

What to bring?
It is essential that each student bring their own personal computer for use during school. Students should also bring bedding and bath, pillow and blanket / duvet.
Investment
Inscription: R$ 500*
School Fees: R$ 3.900 or 3x R$ 1.300
Including room and board for the 12 weeks of the school,food,internet and 2 books that are gonna be use during the lectures.
* The application fee must be paid upon receipt of the letter of acceptance from the school.
** The value of the school can be paid in cash at a discount of 5% or in three monthy installment.

You will need to provide your name, email, and phone number with two references: one from your church pastor and other from your leader (from the last school you did or ministry) at YWAM. We will send the forms by email to them filled out online a few days after receiving your application form.The selection process will only begin once we have received the two completed reference forms.
